Xing Yi Quan one of
The three main Styles of Internal Martial Arts in China was rated as the number one martial art.
Xing Yi does not really use much muscular strength, and instead uses whole body power combined
with storing and relasing of "Chi"
internal energy to issue power. The core training methods are San Ti Sher (3 trinity stance) and
Wu Xing Quan (5 elements fist), power is a
percussive type of and uses the concepts of Yin Yang.
Emphasis is placed on building internal energy in the "Dan Tian" an area below the navel, which according
to Chinese medical theory
is said to be the original source of "Chi" or life force. This energy is used to deliver
power to martial techniques, as well as improving the health of the practitioner.
Xing Yi is
a very specialized martial art, and even the basics are considered very advanced.
Methods of training are the learning of handsets
(forms), qi qong, weapons, fighting technique, and free sparring.
The system is
more linear than Bagua linear and compact.
